How does your media product represent particular social groups?
The key character I have chosen from our media product is the little girl, she can be compared to the main character in 'The Grudge' films.
The Grudge is about a curse on an old house. The general storyline revolves around an American nurse who lives and works in Tokyo is exposed to a mysterious supernatural curse, one that locks a person in a powerful rage before claiming their life and spreading to another victim. This is quite a different storyline to our film Distorted, but they do share some similarities.
Similarities
- In both films you discover that the character was once a normal person, but what happened to them during their lives cause them to act this way.
- Both these characters are fairly young females. They both wear white dresses which contrasts with their dark hair, and also contradicts the idea of purity and innocence.
- They both look quite similar, they have dark hair and pale skin.
Differences
- They have different reasons why they act this way, the grudge character was violently abused and killed by her husband, whereas our character is not actually dead, also she was abused sexually instead.
